BESTNet (Biomedical Engineering and Science Training Network) is an enterprise-driven network. The BESTNet Skillnet receives funding from The Training Networks Programme operated by Skillnets Ltd. BESTNet is an All Island Network with members from multinational industries,SMEs, indigenous industries, external R&D companies, and sub-supply companies, with an emphasis on the biomedical and medical device industries and pharma & bio Technology.

In 2008, further funding was received from Skillnets for 2008 / 2009 to provide local, state-of-the-art R&D training and skills development programmes for companies in the medical devices, biotechnology and biopharma industries. The development and delivery of a part-time modular MSc in Biomedical Science is a key element of the programme. In addition training, education and development courses and events are regularly organised for the members of the BESTNet network.
